About The Role

The Senior HR Manager - Mergers & Acquisitions (UK & Ireland) role offers an exceptional opportunity for an experienced HR professional to lead critical people initiatives during high-stakes M&A transactions. This position involves overseeing the entire people workstream associated with mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships, ensuring seamless integration and compliance throughout the process. As a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the cultural and organizational landscape of the combined entities, facilitating employee engagement, managing legal compliance, and supporting organizational change. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the success of complex deals while maintaining a focus on people-centered strategies that align with business objectives.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess proven experience in HR within M&A, restructuring, or transformation projects, demonstrating a strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices. A thorough knowledge of Northern Ireland and UK employment legislation, including TUPE regulations, is essential. The candidate should have excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to confidently advise senior leaders and influence decision-making. Organizational skills are critical, as managing multiple complex projects simultaneously requires a structured and detail-oriented approach. A CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent) is desirable but not mandatory. Candidates should also demonstrate strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and a proactive mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Leading HR due diligence processes during mergers and acquisitions to identify potential risks and opportunities related to people management.
  • Managing TUPE transfers from initial consultation through to post-transfer integration, ensuring legal compliance and smooth transitions for employees.
  • Designing and implementing cultural integration and change management strategies to support organizational alignment and employee engagement.
  • Partnering with Reward, Payroll, and other HR functions to harmonize policies, benefits, and processes across combined entities.
  • Providing strategic HR advice to senior leadership on risk management, organizational readiness, and workforce planning during transactions.
  • Supporting day-to-day HR activities and employee relations issues during quieter periods between deals to maintain stability and engagement.
  • Developing comprehensive communication plans to keep stakeholders informed and aligned throughout the M&A lifecycle.
  • Monitoring and reporting on HR metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of integration strategies and identify areas for improvement.
