About The Role

As our Campus HR Manager at Camden Learning, you will assume operational ownership of our human resources landscape, playing a pivotal role in shaping the workforce environment across our educational sites. Supported by the expertise and model policies of Camden HR, you will provide clear guidance to senior leadership, ensuring HR practices align with organizational goals and legal requirements. Your responsibilities will include managing end-to-end recruitment processes, overseeing onboarding procedures, and maintaining compliance with safeguarding and employment standards. You will serve as a key point of contact for employee relations, supporting line managers through performance management, disciplinary, and capability procedures. Additionally, you will champion staff wellbeing initiatives, foster a positive work culture, and ensure all HR records and policies are maintained accurately and in accordance with current legislation. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the development of a supportive, compliant, and high-performing educational environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record as an HR generalist, preferably within educational, public sector, or local authority settings. You should have a comprehensive understanding of UK employment law, safeguarding principles, and safer recruitment practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and professionalism. You must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively across multiple busy environments. Proficiency in Google Drive Suite and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. A confident, autonomous approach to work, combined with resilience and a proactive attitude, will ensure success in this varied and autonomous role.

Responsibilities

  • Operational HR Lead: Act as the primary liaison between school leadership, trade unions, and Camden HR advisors for employee relations, policy implementation, and casework management.
  • Talent & Recruitment: Coordinate the entire recruitment cycle, including drafting job adverts, managing candidate pipelines, overseeing onboarding processes, and maintaining compliance with the Single Central Record (SCR).
  • Employee Relations & Performance: Support line managers with absence management, capability and disciplinary procedures, and oversee annual appraisals and probation reviews.
  • Staff Wellbeing: Lead initiatives to enhance staff wellbeing, including Occupational Health referrals, Employee Assistance Programmes, and health and cycling schemes.
  • Compliance & Records: Ensure all HR data, contracts, and policies adhere to employment law, safeguarding standards, and data protection regulations, maintaining accurate records at all times.
