Join a small HR team where your impact will be felt every day

Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a varied role where no two days are the same? Do you enjoy building strong relationships, providing practical, knowledgeable, and confident HR advice, as well as helping organisations create great places to work?

At YMG, we care for our people so they can care for our patients. As a growing and forward-thinking GP practice serving 45,000 patients across seven sites, we're looking for an experienced and proactive HR Manager to join our small, friendly and collaborative HR team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys being close to the organisation, building trusted relationships with managers and colleagues, and making a tangible difference to the employee experience.

You will provide a comprehensive HR service across the practice, acting as a trusted adviser to managers and supporting the full employee lifecycle. You will be strategic in your thinking but hands-on in your approach, with the confidence to take ownership of matters independently, provide constructive challenge and know when to seek further advice or escalate risk.

Healthcare, primary care or NHS experience is highly desirable. However, we are equally interested in strong HR professionals from other regulated or complex environments who can demonstrate relevant and transferable experience.

We are open to considering both full-time and part-time applicants and are committed to finding the right person for the role.

What you'll be doing

HR Advisory & Employee Relations

  • Provide professional, pragmatic and timely HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle.
  • Lead and support employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance and absence management.
  • Support managers to effectively manage attendance, performance, wellbeing and workplace issues.
  • Coach and advise managers to build their confidence and capability in managing people effectively.
  • Provide appropriate challenge where required, ensuring decisions are fair, consistent, proportionate and aligned with employment legislation and organisational policies.
  • Identify employment risks and provide clear recommendations, escalating complex or high-risk matters appropriately.
  • Support managers through organisational change and other people-related challenges.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Support and advise managers throughout the recruitment and selection process.
  • Develop and promote effective recruitment approaches that attract high-quality candidates.
  • Support pre-employment checks, onboarding and induction processes.
  • Ensure recruitment practices are fair, inclusive and compliant with relevant requirements.
  • Contribute to improving the candidate and employee experience.

People Management & Development

  • Support managers with effective performance management, objective setting and employee development.
  • Support effective appraisal processes and contribute to a culture of regular feedback and development.
  • Identify and contribute to learning and development opportunities across the practice.
  • Promote positive employee engagement, inclusion, wellbeing and organisational culture.
  • Contribute to organisational development and wider people-focused projects and initiatives.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
