HR Officer – Part-Time

Job Type: Part-Time, Permanent
Location: London - Hybrid
Working Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week, flexible
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Reports to: Senior Leadership Team (SLT)

About the Role

Boost Education Service Ltd (BES), trading as BHE Uni, is seeking an experienced and proactive Part-Time HR Officer to support the organisation as it continues to grow.

The HR Officer will be responsible for strengthening and maintaining the company's HR framework, ensuring employment documentation and practices remain compliant with UK employment law and supporting management across the employee lifecycle. A key initial focus of the role will be to review and update the Employee Handbook, employment contracts, HR policies and procedures, while introducing consistent and effective HR processes across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and update employment contracts, the Employee Handbook, and HR policies.
  • Ensure HR practices and documentation comply with UK employment law and good practice.
  • Introduce and maintain clear HR processes across the employee lifecycle.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, probation reviews, and employee exits.
  • Provide HR advice to managers on performance, absence, disciplinary, and grievance matters.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Support performance reviews and employee development processes.
  • Conduct exit interviews and help identify opportunities to improve employee retention and engagement.
  • Prepare HR documentation, templates, and basic workforce reports as required.
  • Keep management informed of relevant changes to employment legislation.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Previous experience in an HR Officer, HR Advisor, HR Generalist, or similar role.
  • Good knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience with employment contracts, HR policies, and employee relations.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Right to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • CIPD Level 3 or above, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working within an SME or growing organisation.
  • Experience implementing or improving HR processes.
  • Experience within education or professional services would be an advantage.
