HR Officer (Temporary, Full-Time)
Location: Hybrid Working (3 days office, 2 days home)
Base Office: Stockton-on-Tees
Contract: Temporary Assignment
Duration: Initial 3 months (potential to extend or become permanent)
Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Salary: Circa £32,000 FTE (£16.50 per hour, REED PAYE)
We are delighted to be supporting a leading charitable organisation in the recruitment of an HR Officer to join their People & Culture team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional to provide a high-quality, generalist HR service, supporting managers and employees across a broad range of people-related activities.
Working closely with the Head of People & Culture, you will provide HR advice and guidance across the employee lifecycle, supporting recruitment, employee relations, wellbeing initiatives, workforce reporting and policy implementation.
The Role
As HR Officer, you will play a key role in delivering an efficient and customer-focused HR service, ensuring best practice, compliance and a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Providing HR advice and guidance to managers and employees
- Supporting employee relations cases, including absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance matters
- Coordinating recruitment and onboarding activities
- Maintaining accurate employee records, HR systems and documentation
- Supporting probation, appraisal and performance review processes
- Producing workforce reports and HR management information
- Maintaining HR trackers, logs and people data
- Supporting payroll changes and ensuring data accuracy
- Assisting with wellbeing initiatives and staff engagement activity
- Delivering inductions, HR guidance and training sessions
- Supporting HR projects, policy reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
About You
We are looking for a confident and organised HR professional with experience in a busy generalist HR environment.
You Will Bring
- Experience in an HR Officer, HR Advisor or Generalist HR role
- Knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
- Experience managing or supporting employee relations cases
- Recruitment and onboarding experience
- Strong understanding of the employee lifecycle
- Experience producing HR reports and workforce data
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Experience handling confidential employee information
- CIPD qualification, or working towards it, would be advantageous
