The Role

Are you an experienced HR professional with a strong understanding of payroll processes and a passion for partnering with leaders to drive business success?

People are at the heart of every successful business, and we're looking for an HR & Payroll Business Partner who is passionate about creating a positive, engaging, and high-performing workplace.

Acting as a trusted advisor to managers and employees alike, you will support a wide range of HR activities, from employee relations and performance management to organizational development and change initiatives. You'll play a vital role in helping managers build engaged, high-performing teams while ensuring employment legislation and best practice are consistently applied.

Equally, you will take ownership of monthly payroll coordination, working with our outsourced payroll provider to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.

Combining strategic thinking with operational excellence, this role offers a unique opportunity to influence both business performance and employee experience.

What you'll do

  • Partner with managers to provide expert HR advice, guidance, and support on employee relations, performance, engagement, and organizational development.
  • Lead and support people initiatives that align HR strategy with business objectives and drive positive organizational outcomes.
  • Analyse HR data and key metrics to identify trends, support decision-making, and deliver continuous improvement activities.
  • Manage monthly payroll submissions, ensuring all employee data is accurate, compliant, and submitted within agreed deadlines.
  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll queries while maintaining payroll, absence, holiday, and statutory leave records.
  • Produce payroll and people-related reports, manage time and attendance processes, and support year-end payroll activities.

What you'll need

  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder influencing skills.
  • Experience of payroll preparation and working with outsourced payroll providers.
  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations practice.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including coaching and influencing managers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret HR and payroll data to support decision-making.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working with payroll and sensitive employee information.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to align people initiatives with organizational objectives.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Professional integrity, discretion, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
