HR & Payroll Senior Data Migration Analyst

Equans is looking for a HR & Payroll Senior Data Migration Analyst to join our team based at Quorum Business Park, Newcastle or Wath-upon-Dearne, Rotherham on a temporary basis (12 month). This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a salary of £50,000 - £60,000 per annum, dependant upon skills and experience as well as car allowance, bonus and benefits package.

Equans UK is undertaking a major workforce systems transformation, migrating HR and payroll data for approximately 2,300 employees from HR.net and MiraclePay into SAP ECC6. We are recruiting a senior Data Analyst to lead and own the end-to-end data migration lifecycle for this project: receiving data extracts from source systems, cleansing and validating them, mapping them to SAP field structures, loading into SAP, and validating the results post-load. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role suited to someone who has a proven track record working directly with large, sensitive HR and payroll datasets, has a meticulous eye for data quality, and can work confidently with both business stakeholders and technical delivery teams (including our implementation partner, Capgemini) to get data migration right first time leading the migration.

You'll be based at our brand new, super modern Shared Services office in Newcastle, which is a dynamic multifunctional operation, where our people are committed to delivering great services that enable our business to meet its goals.

We invest in our people through a broad range of learning opportunities such as professional qualifications, collective/individual training, and personalised support programmes.

We care about the health and wellbeing of our people and we’re proud of our Better Health at work Gold certification, achieved through various campaigns and activities supporting our employees.

We champion diversity and inclusion in the workplace and have various forums across Shared Services where we encourage our people to take part, get involved and continue to shape and build on the culture we are proud of here at Equans Shared Services.

What will you deliver?

  • Ensure accurate and complete extraction of HR and payroll data from legacy systems, reducing migration risks and preventing critical data gaps during transition.
  • Improve data quality by identifying, cleansing, and resolving data issues before migration, resulting in more reliable employee and payroll records within SAP.
  • Deliver accurate mapping of business-critical HR and payroll data to SAP structures, ensuring consistency of employee, organisational, and payroll information across the organisation.
  • Support successful SAP data loads by preparing, validating, and troubleshooting migration files, minimising delays and reducing rework during dress rehearsals and go-live activities.
  • Provide robust post-migration validation and reconciliation, ensuring data completeness, integrity, and stakeholder confidence in the new system.
  • Enable successful User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Parallel Runs by providing high-quality data and resolving migration-related defects efficiently.
  • Maintain comprehensive audit trails, reconciliation evidence, and migration documentation, supporting governance, compliance, and project sign-off requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with HR, Payroll, IT teams, and implementation partners to resolve issues, manage risks, and ensure alignment throughout the migration lifecycle.
  • Contribute to project planning, cutover readiness, RAID management, and status reporting, helping to ensure delivery of a successful HR and Payroll transformation programme.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer and documentation, enabling smooth transition to business-as-usual operations and long-term maintenance of HR and payroll data within SAP.
  • Ensure the successful migration of approximately 2,300 employee records from HR.net and MiraclePay into SAP ECC6, safeguarding payroll continuity and business operations.
  • Reduce operational, compliance, and payroll risks by delivering trusted, high-quality employee and payroll data within the target SAP environment.
  • Support the wider Equans workforce systems transformation by enabling the decommissioning of legacy systems and adoption of standardised HR and payroll processes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
