Job Title
Are you passionate about wild tigers and protecting their environment?
Do you have senior HR/People experience, an understanding of good governance and risk management, and a desire to use those skills to support an established wild tiger conservation charity?
What difference will you make?
Our current HR Trustee will leave us at the end of their term in 2027, and we are seeking to appoint a successor in time to enable an effective handover.
Tigers4Ever is a successful and ambitious volunteer-led charity. Our ability to deliver our charitable objectives depends upon attracting, selecting and retaining Trustees and volunteers with the right skills, commitment and values, and ensuring that they are properly supported throughout their time with us.
The new HR & People Trustee will take practical responsibility for this important area, helping us maintain robust and consistent recruitment, onboarding, support, development, succession and leaving processes as the charity continues to develop. They will combine hands-on delivery with Board-level HR expertise, ensuring that good people practice supports both the effectiveness of individual Trustees and volunteers and the resilience of the charity as a whole.
The role will also strengthen our Governance and Risk sub-group. Good people management, governance and risk management are closely connected having appropriate skills around the Board table, clear responsibilities, effective policies, good succession planning and appropriate oversight all contribute to a resilient and well-managed charity.
Because Tigers4Ever has no UK administrative employees, this is not simply an advisory or oversight position. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to take ownership of the HR/People function, work directly with the Chair and fellow Trustees, and see the practical results of their contribution.
They will therefore help Tigers4Ever both to look after the people who make our work possible and to maintain the strong governance needed to deliver our charitable objectives responsibly and effectively.
This is an opportunity to make a practical contribution to the future growth, resilience and strategic direction of a charity working to secure wild futures for tigers.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for an experienced HR/People professional to help guide the charity through its next three years of growth and development.
Applicants must have the time, enthusiasm, and commitment to help Tigers4Ever achieve its charitable objectives. We're looking for someone who can commit to a minimum term of 3 years, with an option for 2 further 3-year terms (subject to agreement on both sides), and a maximum of 9 years.
We would particularly welcome applicants with the following skills and experience
- Significant professional experience in HR, People Management or a closely related discipline.
- Experience of recruitment, selection, onboarding and induction.
- Experience of supporting people and managing sensitive people-related issues appropriately.
- A good understanding of HR policies, procedures and employment best practice.
- Experience of succession planning, skills assessment or organisational development.
- An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and its application to recruitment and people management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, discretion and the ability to handle confidential matters appropriately.
- The ability to work collaboratively with a Chair, fellow Trustees and volunteers.
- A willingness to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery; this is not solely an advisory or oversight role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Governance and Risk
The successful applicant will also contribute actively to our Governance and Risk sub-group, so experience in one or more of the following would be particularly valuable
- Board, committee or senior management experience.
- Charity governance or experience of working with a charity or not-for-profit organisation.
- Organisational risk management and maintaining or reviewing risk registers.
- Policy development and review.
- Governance frameworks, assurance or regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with Charity Commission guidance and the principles of good charity governance.
Previous experience as a charity Trustee would be advantageous but is not essential. We are interested in candidates who can bring strong professional HR/People expertise to the Board and who are willing to develop their knowledge of charity governance where necessary.
The role may particularly suit a senior HR/People professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with practical delivery and who would value the opportunity to take ownership of their area within a small, volunteer-led organisation.
Tigers4Ever welcomes applications from individuals from all backgrounds who are passionate about tigers, wildlife and conservation. A personal interest in our cause is important, but applicants do not need previous conservation experience.
As a Tigers4Ever Trustee, you will share collective responsibility with the other Trustees for ensuring that the charity complies with its legal and regulatory obligations, pursues its charitable objectives and uses its resources effectively. You will also contribute to the future strategy of the charity and help ensure that our work delivers genuine public benefit through wild tiger conservation.
As Tigers4Ever is a charitable trust, you must be over 18 to be a Trustee.

Trustees therefore do more than provide strategic oversight. Each brings professional expertise to the Board and takes practical responsibility within their area. The HR & People Trustee will advise the Board on people matters and personally manage our trustee and volunteer people processes.
Our community-focused projects encourage people living with wild tigers to protect them. These include anti-poaching patrols, reducing human-animal conflict, providing vital equipment for Forest Department patrols, educational support for children in poor rural communities, permanent wildlife waterholes and habitat restoration.
Our first-of-its-kind Buffer Zone Poaching Patrol, established in Bandhavgarh in 2015, has contributed to a 98.5% reduction in wild tiger deaths from poaching and poisoning over 11 years. Patrols search for poachers’ traps, protect wildlife and help identify and quench forest fires.
Our Board meets 4 to 5 times annually for approximately 3.5 hours, supported by trustee sub-groups providing detailed oversight.
The vacancy replaces a Trustee stepping down at the end of their tenure in 2027, allowing time for knowledge transfer. Working closely with the Chair and fellow Trustees, the HR & People Trustee will
- Manage trustee and volunteer recruitment from identifying requirements and preparing role profiles through shortlisting, interviews, references and appointment.
- Manage onboarding and induction, ensuring new trustees and volunteers understand the charity, their responsibilities and how they can contribute effectively.
- Provide ongoing people support to trustees and volunteers and help resolve issues sensitively and appropriately when they arise.
- Provide quarterly reports to the Board on people and HR matters. Maintain and periodically review relevant HR/People policies, procedures and records.
- Support trustee knowledge of the charity, Board skills assessment and succession planning.
- Manage leaving and handover processes when trustees and volunteers reach the end of their time with Tigers4Ever.
- Promote good practice in equality, diversity, inclusion and fair treatment throughout our people processes.
- Ensure that our people practices remain proportionate, legally appropriate and effective for a volunteer-led charity.
Alongside this practical HR responsibility, the successful applicant will be an active member of our Governance and Risk sub-group, working with fellow Trustees to review governance, policies and organisational risks and help ensure compliance with current Charity Commission guidance and good governance practice.
Like all Tigers4Ever Trustees, they will share collective responsibility for the charity’s strategic direction, governance and effective use of its resources.
