An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Policy Consultant to support a public sector organisation with the review, development and modernisation of its HR policies and procedures.

Working as part of a collaborative HR team, you will play a key role in ensuring HR policies are up to date, legally compliant and aligned with the organisation's wider digital transformation agenda. You will also help improve the manager experience across key people processes by producing clear, practical and accessible guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, refresh and update HR policies and procedures to ensure they are current, compliant and fit for purpose.
  • Work collaboratively with the HR team to develop and enhance HR documentation, guidance and supporting materials.
  • Ensure HR policies are compatible with the organisation's digital HR environment, including Microsoft Copilot-enabled ways of working.
  • Improve the manager experience across key HR processes, including performance management, absence management, appraisals and objective setting.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across HR services and contribute to policy best practice.

About You

  • Demonstrable experience developing, reviewing and implementing HR policies within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, performance management and core HR practices.
  • Experience working collaboratively with HR colleagues and a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex policy into clear, practical guidance for managers.
  • Experience of digital HR systems or HR transformation programmes is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • A proactive approach to improving processes and enhancing the user experience across HR services.
