HR & Recruitment Advisor

Location: Birmingham, Office-based

Contract: Full time, permanent role

Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 depending on experience

Package & Benefits

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a proactive HR & Recruitment Advisor to support the delivery of an effective people service across the business, helping us attract great people, support our managers and deliver an outstanding employee experience.

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional looking to develop their generalist experience within a varied and fast-paced environment.

Working closely with the HR Business Partner, you'll play a key role in delivering a professional, efficient and proactive HR service across the business. You'll support managers and employees with day-to-day HR matters, manage key employee lifecycle processes, coordinate recruitment activity and provide support across employee relations, HR systems, payroll and people projects.

This is a hands-on role with genuine responsibility and the opportunity to take ownership of key HR processes while continuing to develop your experience across the full HR remit.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment activity for assigned vacancies, from advertising and candidate sourcing through to offer and onboarding.
  • Screen CVs and conduct telephone screening interviews.
  • Coordinate interviews with hiring managers and candidates.
  • Liaise with candidates, hiring managers and recruitment agencies.
  • Prepare offer documentation and contracts of employment.
  • Complete pre-employment checks, including references and right to work documentation.
  • Coordinate onboarding for new starters.
  • Maintain our Applicant Tracking System and recruitment records.
  • Produce recruitment reports and KPI data.
  • Partner with hiring managers to understand recruitment requirements and support effective candidate attraction and selection.

HR Operations

  • Manage the HR inbox and respond to day-to-day HR queries.
  • Prepare contracts, offer letters and employment documentation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records within the HR system.
  • Coordinate and monitor probation reviews, ensuring managers complete reviews within the required timescales
  • Coordinate onboarding, offboarding and other employee lifecycle processes.
  • Support absence management and family leave administration.
  • Prepare and process monthly payroll changes and work with the HR Business Partner to ensure accurate payroll information.
  • Produce HR reports and management information.
  • Support HR policy reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with HR projects and wider people initiatives.

Employee Relations Support

  • Provide first-line HR guidance to managers and employees on routine people matters, escalating complex or high-risk issues to the HR Business Partner.
  • Coordinate meetings and take notes where required.
  • Support investigations and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records and case documentation.
  • Support managers with follow-up actions and ensure agreed actions are completed within appropriate timescales.

Office Operations

  • Coordinate office supplies and consumables.
  • Support meeting room bookings and visitor management.
  • Assist with new starter equipment and workstation setup.
  • Help coordinate internal events and employee initiatives.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day running of the office.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in an HR Coordinator, HR Officer, HR Advisor or similar generalist HR role.
  • Experience supporting employee relations matters, including absence, disciplinary, grievance and/or capability processes.
  • Experience coordinating recruitment, including candidate management and interview scheduling.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience using HRIS and/or Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • The ability to work independently and use your initiative.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • CIPD Level 3 or above (or working towards) would be advantageous.
