HR Strategic Projects Partner
We are seeking an experienced HR, reward or organisational change professional to join Manchester Metropolitan University as an HR Strategic Projects Partner.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering strategic people initiatives.
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver high-profile projects and workstreams that will help shape the University's people agenda and support delivery of our Great Place to Work Strategy.
In this important role, you will provide trusted HR expertise to senior leaders and key stakeholders, supporting projects from early analysis through to consultation and implementation. You will combine strategic thinking with a practical approach to delivery, ensuring projects are well planned, evidence-informed, appropriately governed and focused on achieving positive outcomes.
Working closely with the Assistant Director - Strategic People Initiatives, Project Manager and specialist People & Organisational Development colleagues, you will use people, organisational and reward data to identify trends, assess risks and develop clear, practical recommendations. You will also work in partnership with the Head of Employee Relations to lead agreed consultation and negotiation activity with trade unions and other stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for an experienced HR, reward or organisational change professional who has operated successfully within a large and complex organisation. You will bring sound professional judgement, a strong understanding of employment law and employee relations, and the ability to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders while managing sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
