As H&S Advisor / Safety Expert, you make a real impact on the safety of our Markinch power plant. You’ll work closely with operations, engineering & maintenance, contractors, and management to strengthen our safety culture and ensure compliance with UK legislation and international standards.

About the role

  • Act as a trusted Safety Advisor to managers and teams on the Markinch site.
  • Champion our Mission ZERO culture and embed it across employees and contractors.
  • Foster a strong contractor safety culture and monitor compliance on site.
  • Elaborate on risks, safe work methods, and compliance with UK safety laws.
  • Keep risk assessments and processes current and ensure the ISO45001 system is applied consistently.
  • Coordinate safety improvement plans, as well as develop safety training, courses, and awareness programs for staff and contractors.
  • Support investigations of accidents and incidents, and improve crisis management and first aid readiness.

Your focus is on the Markinch site while also working closely with other power plants and central expert groups to exchange best practices and shape future projects.

  • Completed NEBOSH diploma or minimum NEBOSH General Safety Certificate with the willing to NEBOSH diploma.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar H&S role.
  • Hands-on experience with safety management systems (ISO45001 or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills to assess and improve processes.
  • High level of initiative, independence, and decisiveness.
  • Ability to engage with all levels of the organization and present clearly.
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine team spirit.
