About the Role

An interesting and exciting opportunity has arisen for people with a genuine interest in healthcare and patient safety to become part of the team within the Hospital Sterilisation and Decontamination Unit (HSDU). We provide operating theatres, wards and departments with surgical instruments and medical devices required for sterile procedures. This job role supports the clinical and surgical teams in the provision of excellent, high quality and safe patient care.

Hours of Posts

  • 37.5 hours per week - part time will be considered

Working Pattern

  • Post 1: Day shift Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday 8am-4pm.
  • Post 2: Day shift Monday to Friday 10am-6pm.
  • Post 3: Tuesday to Saturday, hours to be discussed.

The role will also require some flexibility with cross-site working between the Trust’s two acute hospitals; Eastbourne District General Hospital and Conquest Hospital, therefore the ability to travel between sites independently is required.

About You

We are looking for applicants who are able to demonstrate:

  • Good manual dexterity
  • High levels of attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal skills
  • The ability to interact with staff at all levels on a day-to-day basis

You must be enthusiastic, have a good general education and have the ability to follow instructions and processes. Experience of working in Sterile Services would be advantageous, but is not essential as full training will be given. The successful individual will become proficient, through training, in providing quality sterilised goods to both Internal and External Customers. Applicants must have an adaptable, flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate they can work very well within a team, as well as on their own.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
