Job Description

Wood is looking to engage a qualified HSE Advisor to join the construction team on site in North Ayrshire. This role is on a short-term basis with an initial duration of 3 months, but with potential to become a long-term assignment to the successful candidate. The role is full time on-site ideally on an Umbrella or Direct PAYE basis.

Please note that, as this is a short-term contract position, applicants must have full right to work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available for this opportunity.

All employment is subject to completion of mandatory pre-employment screening checks relevant to this role.

The Role

We’re looking for a detail-driven HSE Advisor to support safe, compliant construction delivery through accurate reporting, strong system management and close collaboration with site teams and contractors. Experience across industries such as Manufacturing, Dairy, FMCG, Pharmaceutical and batch chemicals is required. If you’re organised, confident working across multiple groups, and committed to maintaining high safety standards, this role is for you.

Key Tasks Day To Day Would Be

  • Management of safety on site
  • Entering information into audit and safety observation database (basic knowledge of MS Office)
  • Assisting with the preparation of weekly and monthly KPI reports for the client
  • Writing toolbox talks and assistance with driving site safety campaigns (updating posters, disseminating information)
  • Day to day presence on the site to ensure compliance and to carry out safety audits
  • Providing advice and assistance to construction supervision on safety matters
  • Delivering site inductions

Responsibilities

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Support daily site compliance by engaging with construction teams, contractors and supervisors to ensure safety requirements are understood and followed
  • Complete audits and inspections and record findings accurately within HSE systems
  • Manage safety data including entering observations, audit results and corrective actions into databases with strong attention to detail
  • Prepare KPI reports for weekly and monthly client submissions
  • Deliver inductions and support toolbox talks with clear, practical messaging
  • Assist with RAMS and permit compliance by working cohesively with construction supervision
  • Support safety campaigns through updating materials, sharing information and reinforcing key messages across site
  • Contribute to incident reporting and assist investigations to ensure accurate documentation and follow-up

  • Experience in construction HSE environments. Pharmaceutical experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence working collaboratively with contractors and site teams
  • Solid understanding of safety systems, reporting and compliance
  • Good MS Office skills and excellent attention to detail
  • C&G, ONC/HNC or equivalent in Technical, HSE or related industry
  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable)
