Join the Northern Diver Team
At Northern Diver (International) Ltd, we’ve been designing and manufacturing world-class diving, rescue and specialist equipment since 1985. We’re a British manufacturer with customers around the world, but at heart, we’re a close-knit team that takes pride in what we do.
We’re looking for a HSE & HR Admin Assistant to join our team at our Appley Bridge headquarters.
This is a varied role for someone who is highly organised, quick to learn and confident working independently. You’ll support our Quality, Health & Safety and HR Manager across a wide range of administrative responsibilities, helping to keep our people, processes and records organised and running smoothly.
You don’t necessarily need previous HR or HSE experience. What matters most is finding the right person — someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude and the ability to take a task and see it through.
What You'll Be Doing
Every day brings something different. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining accurate databases, records and documentation.
- Managing employee training records and coordinating refresher training when required.
- Maintaining digital employee records, paperwork and contractual changes.
- Supporting new employee onboarding, including legally compliant Right to Work checks.
- Preparing and issuing offer letters, contracts and other employment documentation.
- Creating and updating job specifications for new and existing roles.
- Supporting recruitment, including obtaining references and attending interviews to take notes.
- Conducting new starter induction tours around our site.
- Assisting with reports and administrative tasks across the Quality, Engineering, HSE and HR teams.
- Taking ownership of ad hoc projects and administrative tasks as they arise.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
