Reporting to: Managing Director
Garador is looking for an experienced HSE Site Lead to provide both strategic and operational leadership across Health, Safety, Environmental and Wellbeing activities at our Yeovil site.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for ensuring legal compliance, developing effective management systems and promoting a positive safety culture across the site. You will work closely with employees, managers, contractors and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and help protect our people, visitors and the wider business.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the site’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Wellbeing strategy.
- Act as the principal HSE advisor to managers and employees.
- Develop and continually improve HSE policies, procedures and management systems.
- Promote employee engagement and positive behavioural change across the site.
- Coach and support managers in developing their HSE leadership and accountability.
- Coordinate HSE training and maintain the site training matrix.
- Monitor HSE performance and report findings to the Site Leadership Team and Hörmann Group.
- Plan and deliver the annual HSE improvement programme, including budget and capital expenditure management.
- Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and significant near misses.
- Oversee audits, inspections and risk assessments.
- Monitor changes to legislation and industry best practice.
- Lead the maintenance of PEFC Chain of Custody certification.
- Support the implementation and continual improvement of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.

About you
You will have:
- A National NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- An IEMA or NEBOSH Environmental Certificate.
- Internal auditing qualifications covering ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
- Strong knowledge of current health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Experience of working with unions and committees to improve culture and performance.
- A good understanding of change management.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with people at all levels.
- The ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
- Good Microsoft Office and general IT skills.

A relevant management or leadership qualification at Level 3 or above would be advantageous.
The role may occasionally require flexibility to work outside normal working hours, including evenings or weekends.
