The purpose of this role is to support the positive development of our site TwO Safety Culture, be able to conduct HSE conversations with individuals, various levels of seniority. Moreover this role would also provide support and motivate others with the overarching goal of improving our HSE performance and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) on site. The main goal is to be the Health, Safety & Environmental support person during a day shift who will generally work very closely with the Andover ASC & also Office teams at the Andover site.
Key Responsibilities
- To act as HSE continuity in the absence of the HSE Manager.
- Chairing meetings in the absence of the HSE Manager.
- Promotion of HSE ownership sitewide, through effective engagement and the encouragement of individuals, Safety Champions and Teams in HS&E activities and initiatives.
- Be accessible and available to others on site, addressing any HSE concerns or issues as they occur.
- To be knowledgeable in the HSE I.T. Systems such as Alcumus and other HSE processes.
- To understand HS&E Legal compliance requirements and to support the achievement of this, as a minimum site standard.
- Comply with UK legal HSE statutory standards and ABF HSE policies.
- Key support in the management and promotion of “Safety Learning Opportunities at Work” (SLOW’s).
- Monitoring progress against HSE KPI’s, team goals and targets.
- To build good relationships to maximise opportunities to improve HS&E performance.
- Develop improved ways of working: To be knowledgeable & competent enough to challenge the ‘norm’ and to be able to suggest and support improvements if identified.
- To manage the site Risk Assessment process (Coaching and supporting others).
- To develop skills towards being capable and confident enough to deliver HSE type training packages such as Risk Assessors Training or Behavioural Safety/NeuroSafety delivery (Beyond Zero).
- Good administration skills: To document various meeting minutes and agreed action points/plans (Examples being H&S Committee and Green Team Minutes).
- To manage basic HSE Projects (Being developed to leading HSE Projects).
- Support accident, incident or SLOW investigations.
- To help develop, arrange and co-ordinate any HSE Site Audits.
- To assist in the management of the site Business Continuity Procedure (BCP) plans and system.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- At least 3 years’ experience in a senior technician/operator or Team leader role within a manufacturing industry
- Strong computer skills in Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
- A good understanding of HS or E topics and relevant legislation
- An understanding of manufacturing and/or an engineering environments (ideally in a senior operator/technician position (as a minimum standard))
- Good problem-solving approach to issues identified or investigations being conducted.
- I.T. knowledge and understanding of I.T. systems and file management.
- Safety or Environment Qualifications not critical but are advantageous.
- Other qualifications at NVQ 1, 2 or 3, or equivalent
- Computer skills (Word/Excell/PowerPoint)
