Help shape safer, more sustainable and higher-quality water consultancy

Purpose and scope of the role

Tetra Tech is seeking an HSEQ Advisor to support the Head of HSEQ in maintaining and improving an Integrated Management System covering health and safety, environment and quality. You will support multiple contracts and accountability centres across South England and Wales, working with operational teams, managers, regional leads, contractors and clients.

Your responsibilities will include reviewing audits, monitoring incidents and corrective actions, assessing operational risks, supporting bids and new contracts, and producing weekly and month-end performance reports. You will also support contractor onboarding, CDM updates and the delivery of Tetra Tech’s BEST behavioural safety programme within the Asset, Surveying and Inspection team, which provides specialist services to the UK water industry.

Your impact in this position

In the short term, you will help maintain compliance, improve reporting and ensure actions are completed effectively. Over time, your insight will support continual improvement, reduce operational risk and strengthen HSEQ performance across regional operations.

You will work on significant water, drainage, surveying, leakage, water resources and efficiency projects, while developing your expertise across a broad consultancy environment. A personal development plan and transparent career pathway will support progression into senior HSEQ, management or specialist roles.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
