HSEQ Compliance Manager
We are seeking an HSEQ Compliance Manager to join its team in Essex on a full-time, onsite basis. This is a standalone role focused on managing HSEQ compliance, accreditations and audit readiness across the business.
The business operates across the construction, infrastructure, utilities and rail sectors, supporting major projects throughout the South East. The business is relocating to a site in Essex, creating further opportunities for growth.
The Role
You will take ownership of the company’s compliance and audit processes, ensuring that policies, procedures and operational controls are maintained and consistently followed. You will work closely with management and depot-based colleagues to support a strong, practical safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage internal and external audit schedules and ensure the business is fully prepared for audits.
- Maintain and support the company’s HSEQ accreditations, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, as well as RISQS and UVDB requirements.
- Ensure policies, procedures and compliance documentation are current, implemented and adhered to.
- Lead investigations into safety incidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate actions are identified and completed.
- Coordinate site audits and inspections, following up on findings and ensuring actions are closed out.
- Oversee compliance activities including random drugs and alcohol testing, fit-to-work medicals and associated actions.
- Support the completion of pre-qualification questionnaires and compliance documentation for tenders and clients.
- Work with depot-based colleagues to ensure equipment, cranes and vehicles have the required safety provisions and checks in place.
- Provide practical HSEQ support across the business and help ensure employees are empowered to raise concerns where something is not right.

- Experience managing HSEQ compliance, accreditations and audit processes.
- A background in construction, logistics, engineering, rail or transport would be relevant.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and manage audit schedules effectively.
- A proactive approach, with the confidence to make sure actions are completed rather than simply issuing paperwork.
- Experience dealing with external auditors and preparing a business for successful audits.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with management and operational teams.
- A practical approach to HSEQ and a commitment to doing things correctly.
Package and Location
- Salary of £60,000 - £70,000 per annum.
- Full-time, predominantly office-based role in Essex.
- Some flexibility is available, although the role will benefit from regular presence at the depot.
