Location: Launceston (with occasional travel to Newport, Wales)
At DS Smith, safety and sustainability are fundamental to how we operate. We are committed to maintaining a zero-accident culture while protecting our people, our environment, and our communities. You will lead and develop the site’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Risk (HSER) function, ensuring robust systems, processes, and behaviors are in place to meet legislative requirements, customer expectations, and internationally recognised management standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001). Through your expertise and influence, you will position HSER at the forefront of decision-making and daily operations.
Working closely with the site leadership team, you will develop and deliver the annual HSER plan, setting measurable objectives and driving continuous improvement. Beyond the site, you will contribute to the wider central HSER network, helping shape strategy, policy, and best practice across the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
