Role Overview
The provision of competent health, safety, quality, and site environmental advice. Ensuring inspections and guidance for the site staff and management team is carried out. Providing challenge where required and not walking by. Promotion of safe equipment, standards, and methods of working. Showing the behaviors expected and leading by example each and every time. This is a regional site-based role supporting a number of projects within a selected region.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Minimum X2 General site audits per week to be completed in full inclusive with any NCR’s raised and communicated to the Project Management team for close out
- Minimum X3 Targeted Inspections per week to be completed with NCR’s raised
- Minimum X2 Contributions with actions raised accordingly
- Weekly Diary report to be issued to the HSQE manager before close of play Friday each week
- Population of outlook diary events planned identifying site visit and locations with HSQE activity planned shared with the HSQE Manager and HSQE Administrator
- All inspections / contributions to be processed onto the Pro Sapien system and direct feedback communicated to relevant parties on site prior to leaving
- Completion of site inspection report to be conducted at the time of the visit ensuring all raised items and feedback can be processed accordingly by all parties involved
- Advisors to be onsite each available day providing HSQE advisor engagement and baseline duties
- All HSQE document reviews to be formally recorded onto the document review form and issued to the team cc’d HSQE Administrator
- RAMS reviews formally issued through the RAMS acceptance document and cc’d to the HSQE Administrator
- Weekly catch-up teams call to be established with the Advisor and Senior Project Manager building relationship and foresight of work activity with the Region
- Monthly HSQE report to be led by the HSQE Advisor in conjunction with the SPM engaging with the Regional GSP Board meeting as required
- Attendance and HSQE Input as required on weekly / biweekly site teams calls as managed through the SPM / PM team requirements.
- Regular Contributions & Site Inspections feedback and engagement with the project teams identifying trends / actions open / on the weekly / monthly calls and meetings by the HSQE Advisor on relevant HSQE matters
- Point of initial contact for HSQE matters for the operational team to be maintained with the HSQE Advisor and escalation paths used to the HSQE Manager
- Incident Investigation on all Regional incident events with joint investigations for high level / serious occurrences conducted with the HSQE Manager
- Where unsafe working is identified, stop the works, agree and document suitable and safe solution and re-brief.
- Assisting the operational team with reviewing of CDM documentation
- Take an active role in developing, maintaining, and promoting a positive HSQE culture
- Ensuring compliance with Aureos standards and client requirements
- Undertaking task analysis and acceptance reviews of risk assessment and method statements
- Ensure all requirements and findings are closed within the required timescales
- Promote the closure of NCR’s and Contributions within the projects
- Report and escalate matters of non-conformance using the Aureos management system

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
- Encourage quality contributions and ensure timely close out and feedback is actioned, promote lessons learnt and good practice sharing.
- Attend requested SSEN / Aureos meetings were requested
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with Site and Project Manager teams, clients, and other stakeholders
- Promotion of health and wellbeing support, and directing staff where required
- Prepare and deliver workforce (including subcontractors) engagement (toolbox talks, awareness sessions)
- Proactively improve in reducing risk through the planning and Pre Construction process
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
Essential:
- NEBOSH Construction Level 3 – Level 6 (or equivalent)
- IOSH Membership
- IEMA Practitioner member or above (or equivalent)
- Mental Health First Aider
- First Aid Trained
- Driving Licence
- Report writing
- Incident investigation
- IT Literate

Knowledge and Experience
Essential:
- Understanding of working methods within the Energy Sector
- Understanding of Principal Contractor roles and responsibilities
- Site inspections and risk assessment experience
- CDM Regulations knowledge and experience
Desirable:
- Industrial knowledge across the infrastructure Services areas of Business
- Basics of management systems
- Temporary Works Knowledge and experience
- Street Works awareness and red book standards
- Environmental & Sustainability management systems / awareness
- Lifting operations awareness
Skills and Abilities
Essential:
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- Positive attitude and tolerance when dealing with challenges faced
- Ability to use IT systems including Microsoft 365, and HSQE specific systems.
- Ability to manage own diary and prioritize workloads
- Conduct incident investigations
- Provide Industry relevant advice and support to HSQE matters
