HSQE Advisor - (Wastewater Treatment Projects)

The Role:

As HSQE Advisor, you will support the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the Group Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) Management System across Glanua, Marches Biogas and Aqua Operations.

Working closely with operational managers, site teams and the wider business, you will provide practical HSQE advice and support, promote a positive safety culture, and help ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory and company requirements. The role involves regular site visits to monitor performance, identify opportunities for improvement and support the safe, efficient and sustainable delivery of engineering, operational and maintenance activities across the Group.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The main duties and responsibilities of the HSQE Advisor are outlined as follows:

  • Promote a positive Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) culture across Glanua, Marches Biogas and Aqua Operations.
  • Act as a key point of contact for HSQE matters, providing practical advice and guidance to managers, employees and contractors.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of the HSQE Management System.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant health, safety, environmental and quality legislation, approved codes of practice and company standards.
  • Support operational teams in identifying, assessing and controlling risks associated with construction, operational and maintenance activities.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews, producing reports and monitoring the close-out of corrective actions.
  • Review risk assessments, method statements and other safety documentation submitted by employees, contractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems across Group operations.
  • Support the investigation of incidents, accidents, near misses and environmental events, identifying root causes and monitoring completion of corrective actions.
  • Escalate significant HSQE incidents to the Southern Area UK HSQE Manager in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate HSQE records, registers and documentation in accordance with company procedures and management system requirements.
  • Assist in the planning, delivery and monitoring of internal HSQE audits and support external certification and customer audits.
  • Identify HSQE training needs and support the delivery of inductions, toolbox talks, awareness campaigns and other training initiatives.
  • Promote effective communication of HSQE information throughout the business, ensuring lessons learned and best practice are shared across all operating companies.
  • Monitor changes in relevant legislation and industry, best practice, supporting the implementation of improvements where required.
  • Support environmental compliance, including waste management, pollution prevention, environmental permitting and sustainability initiatives where applicable.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to improve resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact and support the Group's sustainability objectives.
  • Promote employee health, wellbeing and inclusion initiatives across the business.
  • Build effective working relationships with regulatory bodies, customers, contractors and other external stakeholders as required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the responsibilities of the role.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the HSQE Advisor are outlined as follows:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a similar role, preferably in the civils, water and wastewater industry.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Legislation, Regulations and Best Practice requirements. Awareness of the ISO Standards
  • Minimum of a Level 4/5 or higher qualification in Health and Safety
  • Strong and proven ability to influence change and be a champion of best practice
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint), and a general competence in using new technologies (Mobile Apps etc)
  • Full Driving License.
