Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work and the customers we support, successful candidates must be eligible to meet UK Government and contractual security requirements, including applicable residency requirements, and have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Some roles may also be subject to nationality requirements where necessary to meet security obligations.

Location & Working Pattern

This is a fully onsite position, based at the customer location five days per week. Due to customer requirements, hybrid and remote working are not available for this role.

The Role

At DXC, one of our platinum accounts has exciting opportunities for HSS - Cloud Application Developers at various experience levels.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help design, develop, and deploy innovative cloud-based solutions using technologies such as AWS, Azure, private cloud, and datacentre platforms. You'll work on high-availability, highly automated solutions built predominantly using open-source technologies, delivering real value to customers operating in demanding and secure environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, exploring emerging technologies, and working collaboratively to deliver modern digital solutions. Whether you're building cloud-native applications, automating infrastructure, developing APIs, or implementing secure and scalable architectures, you'll play a key role in driving innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams to understand business requirements, technical environments, and strategic objectives.
  • Design, develop, and implement cloud-based applications and services.
  • Advise customers on modern technologies, automation practices, and innovative approaches to solving business challenges.
  • Design secure, scalable, and highly available solutions.
  • Implement automation to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and governance requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver customer outcomes.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A passion for technology and an interest in emerging tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • A flexible approach and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards learning and continuous improvement.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite at the customer location five days per week.

Desirable Skills & Technologies

  • AWS, Azure, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
  • Development experience using Python, React, or Go.
  • Experience deploying applications within cloud environments.
  • API development and integration experience.
  • Web application technologies including NGINX, Apache, and JBoss.
  • Test-Driven Development (TDD) and/or Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD).
  • Monitoring and observability tools such as ELK, Nagios, New Relic, DataDog, or Splunk.
  • Atlassian toolset experience.
  • JavaScript frameworks, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming concepts.
  • Database schema design and query languages.
  • Source control tools such as Git, Bitbucket, or Subversion.
  • Secure deployment and configuration of AWS services.
  • Identity and access management technologies including ADFS, SSL/TLS, OIDC, OAuth2, Keycloak, and Red Hat SSO.
  • Understanding of modern digital delivery processes and methodologies.
