JERA Nex bp is a new joint venture between JERA, Japan’s largest power generation company, and bp, one of the world’s leading energy companies. Established to unlock the potential of offshore wind across the globe, our talented team, exciting pipeline and solid capital commitment give us the potential to become one of the world’s most successful offshore wind companies.
We entered the market with a portfolio of operational and development assets, alongside the resources, capabilities and resilience to deliver offshore wind energy at scale.
Why this role matters
At JERA Nex bp, protecting our people, assets, information and operations is fundamental to delivering offshore wind safely, securely and sustainably. As our portfolio grows across multiple geographies, security risks continue to evolve, ranging from physical and maritime threats through to geopolitical, activist, supply chain and cyber-related risks.
The intent of this role is to provide security leadership and expertise across JERA Nex bp’s operational and development portfolio, while also supporting broader HSSE initiatives, risk management activities and business improvement programmes as required. Working closely with operational, project and corporate teams, the role will help ensure risks are effectively identified, assessed and managed to support safe, secure and resilient operations.
In this role you will:
- Provide practical HSSE advice, support and challenge to leaders, projects and operational teams across the JERA Nex bp portfolio.
- Support the identification, assessment and management of HSSE risks throughout development, construction, operations and corporate activities.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and continual improvement of HSSE management systems, standards, procedures and assurance programmes.
- Support incident investigations, audits, assurance activities and organisational learning to strengthen risk management and operational performance.
- Partner with project, operational and functional teams to embed effective HSSE practices and support delivery of business objectives.
- Monitor HSSE performance, identify emerging risks and trends, and support improvement initiatives across the portfolio.
- Support emergency preparedness, crisis management, business continuity and resilience activities, including exercises and lessons learned.
- Act as JERA Nex bp’s Security Subject Lead and trusted point of contact for physical security matters across the business.
- Lead and continuously improve security risk management processes, standards and guidance, ensuring alignment with the wider HSSE framework.
- Promote and embed Security by Design principles within projects, assets, facilities and infrastructure, ensuring security risks are considered early and managed throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Conduct or coordinate security risk assessments and advise on proportionate physical, technical and procedural security controls.
- Manage specialist third-party security providers and coordinate security support for projects, operations and corporate activities as required.
- Monitor emerging security threats and provide risk-based advice to protect people, assets, information and business operations.
- Undertake other HSSE, risk management, assurance and improvement activities commensurate with the role to support organisational priorities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
