Job Title – Hub Support Manager

Location – This post is based within Environment and Forestry Directorate, Director’s Office which is based at Victoria Quay, Edinburgh. The Hub team operate a location neutral policy. In line with our current ways of working, our team follows a hybrid working approach, where colleagues use a mix of office based and remote working (working from home) depending on the requirements of the role and personal circumstance.

The DGNZ Correspondence Hub are a new centralised team who handle, start to end, all FOI and EIRs for 5 Directorates in DGNZ (ARE, DECC, EnFor, Marine and Offshore Wind), one of the largest DG’s in the Scottish Government.

Based within the Correspondence Hub Team, our Hub Support Manager role offers the unique opportunity to engage in a cross cutting Operational Delivery role by delivering a high volume of FOI and EIR casework.

This is a challenging role within a high performing team, that offers autonomy in how you manage your workload, with the opportunity to engage with stakeholders at all levels not only across DGNZ but also the wider Scottish Government, UK Government and Devolved Administrations. It also provides you the opportunity to gain insight and experience in exciting and high-profile policy areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Role and Key Responsibilities

As one of 5 Hub Support Managers you will play a pivotal role in providing advice and guidance on FOI and EIRs, and managing casework across DGNZ Directorates (ARE, DECC, EnFor, Marine and Offshore Wind).

You will be responsible for managing a small team of case handlers and provide support to the Hub Lead, assisting in the coordination and assignment of FOI/EIR and review cases within the statutory time frames. The skills and experience you bring will help us to continue to deliver a first-class experience to our stakeholders.

  • Manage team of 2 x B1
  • Coordinate and management of FOI/EIR, providing advice and guidance on Data Protection, GDPR, Information Governance and Records Management when required.
  • Provide support and advice to Hub Managers.
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of EIR and FOI legislation and best practice to enable delivery of high quality and robust responses to EIR and FOI cases within legal deadlines.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships, working collaboratively with colleagues across Scottish Government to produce and review factual and informed responses containing complex information in a clear and concise format to meet the needs of various audiences via MiCase within the agreed timescales.

Success Profile

Experience:

  • Excellent communication and relationship skills, demonstrating the building of effective relationships across Directorates as well as senior stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience and knowledge of records management, data protection guidelines and both EIR and FOI legislation and best practice.

The post is a full-time role, but staff with different working patterns are invited to apply, and we will assess proposed working patterns against the business requirements for this post.
