Role Description
This role is for a casual HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) Safety Diver on a zero hour contract set at an industry competitive £14.50 per hour. The post holder will operate as a sole trader while representing Scuba Diving Scotland.
The HUET Safety Diver is responsible for supporting offshore survival sessions in accordance with industry leading standards bodies, including OPITO and GWO. This role will require the post holder to assist in offshore survival courses including BOSIET, FOET, GWO Basic Safety Training, and STCW.
The post holder will collaborate closely with training staff to maintain compliance with established protocols and industry standards. This is a role based in the Greater Aberdeen Area, completing contract work across multiple high profile training facilities, subject to requirements.

Hours
Usual shifts are split into 4 hour blocks of either a half day/ full days in the following formats:
- 8am to 12pm
- 8am to 4pm
- 8.30am to 12.30pm
- 8.30am to 4.30pm
Day-to-day duties:
- Preparing and checking dive and other safety equipment prior to the session.
- Monitoring delegates during in-water exercises.
- Assisting instructors with dry and in-water demonstrations and procedures.
- Continuous, dynamic risk assessment.
Essential for the role
- Qualified to a minimum of PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent)
- Possess or able to obtain HSE dive medical prior.
- Valid First Aid certification
- Be registered as self employed
- Have your own wetsuit, boots, and mask for hygiene purposes
- Clear and confident communication skills for delivering safety instructions, coordinating with instructors, and providing guidance and reassurance to delegates.
- Ability to work effectively in a team, maintain composure under pressure, and follow structured protocols and regulatory standards.
- Good physical fitness appropriate for in-water safety work, including repeated pool dives, surface support, and equipment handling.
- Willingness to work across multiple sites across the Greater Aberdeen Area, adapting to varying schedules based on contract needs.

Desired for the role
- Prior experience in HUET safety diving is advantageous although full training can be provided
- PADI UK Swimming Pool Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent)
