JAB Recruitment is currently sourcing an experienced HR Advisor on behalf of our Energy Operator client based in Barrow-in-Furness. Candidate should be willing to commute or relocate nearer to the area to be able to take up the contract PAYE role which will initially last for 2 years.

This is a varied, hands-on position supporting the delivery of a consistent and credible HR service across the organisation. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance across day-to-day HR processes, recruitment, employee relations, absence management, payroll coordination and HR systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day employee queries through the central HR inbox.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and standard processes.
  • Support recruitment and headcount activity, including requisitions, approvals, and liaison with recruitment partners.
  • Coordinate the leaver process and ensure employees receive the required information and support.
  • Assist with straightforward employee relations matters.
  • Support sickness absence management in conjunction with occupational health providers.
  • Coordinate substance misuse testing processes and associated HR procedures.
  • Liaise with payroll, Finance, and external providers to ensure monthly changes are processed accurately.
  • Manage Workday queries, data updates, system releases, and management surveys.
  • Coordinate long-service awards and related administration.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, paperwork, and internal information pages.

  • Previous experience within a broad HR advisory or HR coordination role.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident handling employee queries and sensitive information.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Experience using Workday is preferred.
  • CIPD qualification is desirable.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
