People Advisor
Location: Home Based with travel to schools across Cumbria
Contract: Temporary Contract
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced People Advisor to provide professional HR support and advice to schools across the Cumbria region. Working as part of a wider People team, you will partner with school leaders and managers to deliver high-quality employee relations support, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys managing a varied caseload and building strong stakeholder relationships within an education-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence management, and performance issues.
- Support managers through complex HR casework from inception through to resolution.
- Advise on employment legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Coach and guide leaders on people management best practices.
- Support organisational change initiatives, restructures, and consultation processes.
- Build effective relationships with school leaders and key stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate HR documentation and case management records are maintained.
- Travel to schools across the Cumbria region as required.

Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a People Advisor, HR Advisor, Employee Relations Advisor, or HR Business Partner.
- Strong employee relations and case management experience.
- Thorough understanding of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working within a unionised, public sector, education, healthcare, or large organisational environment would be advantageous.
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent experience.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across Cumbria.
