HR Advisor (Maternity Cover)
We have an exciting opportunity to join our People and Talent Team as a HR Advisor on a fixed-term (Maternity Cover), full-time (37 hours per week) basis. This is a hybrid role, based out of our Openshaw campus in Manchester.
Key Responsibilities
HR Advisory
- Advise on the application of HR policy and procedure, supporting managers with options and risks, providing challenge where necessary, applying reasonableness, mitigating risk, and minimising costs where possible.
- You will provide high-quality HR advice and support, ensuring compliance with employment law, HR policies and best practice, while delivering pragmatic solutions that achieve operational objectives.
- Support People Managers by attending HR meetings with employees, taking notes, and producing letters and reports relating to absence management, capability, disciplinary and grievance matters across the business. You'll ensure adherence to policy timescales and maintain high standards of quality and attention to detail.
- Assist the HR Shared Services team with escalated policy and process queries as required.
- Support HR Business Partners in delivering a proactive and informed service, including assisting with change management projects, restructures and TUPE activity across the business.
- Review and update HR policies in line with legislative changes, case law and best practice.
HR Advisory Performance
- Proactively manage sickness absence cases to reduce business costs and support a positive workplace culture.
- Provide updates on ongoing cases, highlighting risks and escalation points, and share lessons learned with managers and the wider team.
- Track and record case data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain the case management system and provide regular reporting for team meetings, ensuring actions are completed, themes are identified and cases are resolved within appropriate timescales.

People Management Coaching and Development
- Coach managers to develop their capability and confidence when dealing with people matters.
- Deliver people management training as required to ensure a consistent approach and level of skill across the organisation.
Customer Service
- Deliver an excellent customer experience by providing accurate, up-to-date information in line with company processes, procedures and service standards.
- Act as an ambassador for customer service at LTE Group, delivering prompt, professional and consistent support.
Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with the business, Trade Union partners, Designated Safeguarding Leads, HR Centres of Excellence, Legal Services, Occupational Health and the Concern at Work team to ensure procedures are followed correctly and people issues are resolved effectively.
- Collaborate with the Data Protection team, supporting the collation of information for requests such as Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs).
- Support HR Business Partners with Employment Tribunal documentation and liaison with Legal Services and ACAS regarding early conciliation.
- Work collaboratively with specialists across the wider HR team, contributing to and supporting the implementation of new initiatives and projects that improve ways of working.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- CIPD Level 3 or equivalent workplace experience
- Demonstrable experience working in an HR Advisory capacity, ideally within a unionised environment
- Experience providing real-time HR advice and support
- Experience coaching managers and providing guidance on people matters
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR legislation and ACAS best practice
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Coaching and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Ability to handle confidential matters with sensitivity and discretion
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to analyse data and contribute to continuous improvement
