Company Description
Only A Pavement Away is a national charity that helps people rebuild their lives through sustainable employment in the hospitality sector. The organization supports individuals facing homelessness, including those leaving prison, by connecting them with job opportunities, financial assistance, and tailored learning and development. Acting as a bridge between inclusive hospitality employers and charity referral partners, Only A Pavement Away focuses on creating long-term employment pathways. The charity’s work delivers both social impact and commercial benefit to the hospitality industry, while easing pressure on public and charitable funding. Funds raised are used to support people returning to work and strengthen partner organizations’ capacity to manage these projects.
Role Description
The Human Resources Assistant will provide day-to-day HR support across the charity, ensuring efficient and compliant HR operations. This part-time role is based in Greater London, with a mix of office-based work and some work from home.

Key responsibilities include:

- Maintaining employee records and HRIS data
- Supporting recruitment and onboarding processes
- Assisting with benefits administration and routine HR queries
- Helping coordinate training and development activities
- Scheduling and documenting HR meetings
- Contributing to HR policies, procedures, and reporting
- Overseeing the administration of Policies and Trade Marks
Qualifications
- Experience in Human Resources (HR) and HR Management, with a solid understanding of core HR processes.
- Proficiency in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and maintaining accurate employee data and documentation.
- Ability to assist with Training coordination, learning activities, and maintaining training records.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and empathetic approach.
- Comfort working in a charity or mission-driven environment; experience in non-profit or hospitality is advantageous.
- Basic understanding of UK employment practices; CIPD coursework or equivalent HR training is beneficial.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office or similar tools) and willingness to learn new systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a small team, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate integrity and respect for diverse backgrounds.
