HR People Assistant

Manchester | Permanent | Hybrid working available once settled into the role

Are you an experienced HR or People Assistant looking to build your career within a professional, structured corporate environment?

We are recruiting a People Assistant to join a friendly and collaborative People team within a highly regarded professional services organisation. This is a varied role offering exposure across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding and contracts through to payroll preparation, benefits, learning and development, appraisals, and salary reviews.

The Role

Working closely with the People Director and Head of People Operations, you will:

  • Manage routine enquiries through the People inbox, escalating sensitive matters appropriately
  • Prepare offer letters, contracts, and changes to employee terms
  • Coordinate onboarding, inductions, and offboarding administration
  • Maintain accurate employee records across the HRIS, learning system, and internal trackers
  • Support monthly payroll preparation and employee benefits administration
  • Assist with leave calculations, employee awards, and recognition
  • Coordinate training courses and learning and development activities
  • Support annual appraisal, promotion, and salary review processes
  • Produce reports and handle confidential employee data
  • Help improve templates, trackers, and administrative processes

About You

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked within an HR or People team in a corporate environment and understand the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, and process.

You will ideally have:

  • Around two years’ experience in an HR, People Operations, or HR administration role
  • Experience supporting employee lifecycle processes
  • Strong attention to detail and confidence managing sensitive data
  • Experience using HR systems, trackers, and electronic filing systems
  • Good Excel, Word, and Outlook skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
  • A proactive, helpful, and professional approach
  • Strong communication skills when dealing with employees, stakeholders, and new joiners
  • Some knowledge of employment law would be beneficial
  • Professional services experience would be advantageous but is not essential
