HR People Assistant

Manchester | Permanent | Hybrid working available once settled into the role

We are recruiting for a highly regarded and growing professional services organisation in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced and supportive People team where you will gain broad exposure across the full employee lifecycle.

If you already have some hands-on HR experience and are looking for greater responsibility, variety, and genuine career development, this could be a brilliant next move.

The Opportunity

Working as part of an established People team, you will support employees and managers across a wide range of HR activities, including:

  • Coordinating new starter onboarding and inductions
  • Preparing offer letters, contracts, and changes to employment terms
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and updating the HR system
  • Supporting monthly payroll preparation and employee benefits
  • Coordinating training and learning and development activities
  • Assisting with appraisals, promotions, and salary reviews
  • Managing day-to-day queries through the People inbox
  • Producing HR reports and handling confidential employee information
  • Supporting leave, recognition, and long-service processes
  • Improving HR templates, trackers, and administrative processes
  • Building positive relationships with employees, managers, and senior stakeholders

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • Previous experience as an HR Assistant, People Assistant, HR Administrator, or in a similar role
  • A good understanding of HR administration and employee lifecycle processes
  • Experience with onboarding, contracts, HR systems, payroll administration, or benefits
  • Strong organisation skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Confidence handling sensitive and confidential information
  • A warm, professional, and helpful communication style
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
  • A proactive attitude and genuine desire to develop your HR career

Experience within professional services, legal services, or a similar corporate environment would be beneficial, but applications from candidates with relevant transferable HR experience are also welcomed.

You do not need to know everything already. What matters most is that you have a good foundation in HR, are organised and switched-on, and are keen to learn.
