Role Overview

Position: Human Resources Assistant

Salary: £25,000 pro rata

Type: Part time

Work model: Office (2 days per week at our office in Borough, London)


Company Description

Only A Pavement Away is a national charity that helps people rebuild their lives through employment opportunities in the hospitality sector. The charity supports individuals facing homelessness, including prison leavers, by providing job placements, financial assistance, and tailored learning and development. Acting as a bridge between progressive hospitality employers and charity referral partners, it focuses on connecting candidates with sustainable employment. The charity’s work delivers strong commercial and financial benefits to the hospitality industry, while easing pressure on public and charitable funding for those in extreme circumstances. Funds raised are directed to supporting people returning to work and strengthening partner organizations’ capacity to manage projects effectively.

Role Description

This full-time Human Resources Assistant role is a hybrid position based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom, with some work-from-home flexibility. The Human Resources Assistant will support day-to-day HR operations, including maintaining employee records, updating HR systems, and assisting with onboarding and offboarding processes. The role will help administer benefits, coordinate training and development activities, and respond to routine employee inquiries. The Human Resources Assistant will also support recruitment logistics, schedule interviews, draft HR documentation, and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures. Collaboration with internal teams and external partners will be required to help deliver effective HR support aligned with the charity’s mission.


Qualifications

  • Strong foundational skills in Human Resources (HR), including HR Management practices appropriate for an assistant-level role.
  • Ability to use and maintain Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) to manage accurate employee data and reports.
  • Capability to administer Training activities and online courses, including organising sessions, managing attendance, and maintaining learning records.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office or equivalent) and comfort with hybrid working arrangements.
  • Prior experience in HR, charity, or non-profit environments is beneficial; CIPD or equivalent HR-related education or certification is an advantage.
