HR People Assistant

Manchester | Permanent | Hybrid working available once settled into the role

Are you an experienced HR or People Assistant looking for a role where you can broaden your experience, take on more responsibility and genuinely progress your HR career?

We are recruiting for a highly regarded and growing professional services organisation in Manchester that is looking for a bright, ambitious HR professional to join its established People team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who already has a solid grounding in HR administration but wants more exposure, more ownership and the opportunity to learn from an experienced team of HR professionals.

You’ll work across the full employee lifecycle, supporting everything from new starters and contracts through to payroll, benefits, learning and development, appraisals, promotions and salary reviews.

Rather than being limited to one area of HR, you’ll gain broad, hands-on experience across the People function, making this a great next move for someone looking to build a long-term career in HR.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting employees throughout the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through to leaving the business
  • Preparing offer letters, contracts and changes to employment terms
  • Coordinating new starter onboarding and inductions
  • Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems
  • Supporting monthly payroll preparation and employee benefits
  • Coordinating training and learning and development activities
  • Supporting annual appraisals, promotions and salary reviews
  • Managing day-to-day enquiries through the People inbox
  • Producing HR reports and maintaining confidential employee information
  • Supporting leave, recognition and long-service processes
  • Improving HR templates, trackers and administrative processes
  • Building strong relationships with employees, managers and senior stakeholders across the organisation

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You don’t need to know everything already. What’s more important is that you have a good foundation in HR, are switched-on and organised, and are genuinely keen to develop your knowledge and progress within the profession.

Why Apply?

This is a role with genuine scope to develop. You’ll be joining a friendly, collaborative and experienced People team where you’ll be supported but also encouraged to take ownership and grow.

You’ll gain exposure to far more than day-to-day HR administration, working alongside senior HR professionals and developing your knowledge across the entire employee lifecycle.

The organisation is established and successful, but the People team remains close-knit and supportive. They are looking for someone they can invest in for the long term and who wants to build their career with the business.

Once you are established in the role, hybrid working is available (4 days in and 1 remote), giving you greater flexibility while still being part of a collaborative Manchester-based team.

If you have HR experience within professional services or a similar corporate environment and are looking for a role where you can learn, develop and take the next step in your career, I’d love to hear from you.
