About the Role
We’re looking for an HR Business Partner who can operate as a true partner to business leaders, not simply as an HR support function. You’ll work closely with leaders to strengthen performance, develop managers, identify organizational risks, navigate complex people situations, and turn business needs into practical people strategies. This is a strategic and hands-on role. You’ll need to be comfortable building relationships and trust while also having the confidence to challenge leaders, address difficult situations, and hold people accountable. This role is a strong fit for someone who thrives in environments with changing priorities, and someone who enjoys building structure where it doesn’t yet exist.
What You’ll Do
- Partner directly with managers and leaders on performance, development, employee relations, and team effectiveness.
- Coach leaders on setting expectations, giving feedback, addressing performance issues, and developing their teams.
- Identify talent gaps, organizational risks, and recurring people challenges before they become larger issues.
- Use HR and business data to identify trends in areas such as turnover, performance, engagement, and team effectiveness.
- Support performance cycles, leadership development, organizational initiatives, and other people programs.
- Help leaders navigate change while maintaining clarity, accountability, and team performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve people processes, structures, and ways of working.
- Challenge assumptions and help leaders address root causes rather than symptoms.
- Work cross-functionally with HR and business teams to implement practical solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

- Strong experience with performance management, coaching, employee development, and organizational effectiveness.
- Business-minded approach with the ability to understand how people decisions impact operational and business outcomes.

- Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to have direct and difficult conversations.
- Sound judgment and the ability to handle sensitive or complex people situations.

- HR administration or coordination
- Recruiting / Talent Acquisition
- Payroll or purely transactional HR operations
- Following established HR processes without significant business partnership
- Supporting employees without directly influencing or coaching leaders You should also be comfortable with:
- Challenging leaders respectfully when something needs to change.
- Balancing empathy with accountability.
- Working without a highly structured corporate environment or large team of HR resources.
- Shifting priorities and responding to business needs rather than working from a rigid, predefined agenda.
- Taking ownership instead of waiting for instructions.
