Role Overview

We are partnering with an Education Authority to recruit a People Partner on a permanent basis to support its HR function across the Birmingham and Bristol regions. This role offers predominantly remote working, with occasional travel to sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting a portfolio of schools across all areas of People management, building trusted relationships with senior leaders
  • Leading complex People and ER casework, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, restructures, redundancies, and TUPE
  • Responding to a wide range of People enquiries via phone and email, providing clear, valuable, and compliant guidance
  • Representing customers at formal hearings and union consultations, offering expert interpretation of employment legislation, policy, and best practice
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members to ensure customers receive timely, accurate, and professional HR advice
  • Providing strategic and operational leadership to drive the delivery of People plans and support organizational priorities
  • Supporting talent pipelines and recruitment activity, including senior and C-suite appointments

Experience and Skills Required

  • CIPD L5 qualified
  • Minimum of 18 months’ experience in an HR advisory role, supporting managers on ER matters including grievance, disciplinary, absence, redundancy, and appointments
  • Proven experience attending and advising at hearings up to and including dismissal
  • Strong ability to interpret employment legislation and apply it confidently to ensure compliance and best practice
  • Skilled at building effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, such as senior leaders, governors, or equivalent
  • Confident in negotiating and engaging with trade union representatives
  • Comfortable working within established HR policies and procedures while maintaining a solutions-focused approach
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to use initiative and think creatively

Working Hours

  • 37 hours per week
  • Monday – Thursday: 8:30am-5pm
  • Friday: 8:30am-3pm
