HR Business Partner

£47,500 per annum | Buckshaw Village, Chorley | Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

At the Alfa Holiday Group, our people are employee owners and as a HR Business Partner, you’ll help managers provide them with the support, leadership and opportunities they need to succeed.

We’re looking for an experienced HR generalist who combines sound judgement with a practical approach. If you enjoy building relationships, tackling complex people matters and turning ideas into meaningful actions, we’d love to hear from you.

Your role

Reporting to the People Services Director, you’ll partner with managers across your assigned operational and support functions, providing clear, commercially informed advice on all aspects of people management.

You’ll combine hands-on employee relations work with opportunities to improve how we recruit, develop and support our teams. You’ll also manage and develop a HR Assistant, supported by an established People Services team that works closely together.

The role is predominantly based at our Head Office in Buckshaw Village, Chorley, with some travel across the UK. Working hours are primarily Monday to Friday, with a flexitime scheme in operation.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Building trusted relationships with managers and employee owners across your area.
  • Advising on and managing employee relations cases, including absence, investigations, disciplinary matters and grievances.
  • Supporting recruitment and selection, including high-volume recruitment.
  • Coaching managers to handle people matters confidently and consistently.
  • Supporting performance management, appraisals, training and development.
  • Developing policies, processes and initiatives that improve engagement and wellbeing.
  • Keeping policies and advice aligned with employment legislation and business needs.
  • Coordinating people changes with payroll and senior managers.
  • Contributing to wider HR projects and the development of our people strategy.
  • Managing and developing your HR Assistant.

There is scope to develop the role further, reflecting the skills and experience you bring.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced HR generalist who can build trust, influence decisions and manage a varied workload with confidence.

We’re looking for:

  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and practical HR best practice.
  • Experience managing complex employee relations cases.
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to advise and challenge constructively.
  • Experience in high-volume recruitment and selection.
  • The ability to coach operational managers in people management.
  • Experience developing HR policies and procedures.
  • Sound commercial judgement and a proactive approach to improving how things work.
  • Resilience, emotional awareness and attention to detail.
  • A CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
