Are you an experienced HR Advisor, Senior HR Advisor or People Partner looking for that next step into a broader HR Business Partner role?
We’re supporting a well established and growing FMCG manufacturing organisation with the appointment of an HR Business Partner to join their team at their Kirkham manufacturing site. Please note this role is based on site 5 days per week.
Internally titled HR Business Partner, this is a broad, hands on partnering role reporting into the onsite HR Business Partner. You’ll be close to the business, building strong relationships with managers, coaching and challenging where needed, and getting involved in everything from day-to-day employee relations through to engagement, change and wider people projects.
This definitely isn’t a role where you’ll be hidden away behind policies and processes! You’ll be visible across the site, developing trusted relationships and helping managers confidently navigate their people challenges.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What will you be doing?
- Providing hands on HR advice, guidance and coaching to managers
- Supporting a range of ER matters including performance, absence, disciplinary and grievance
- Coaching managers to build their confidence and capability
- Supporting organisational change and wider HR projects
- Getting involved in employee engagement initiatives and helping to shape a positive site culture
- Supporting workforce and succession planning
- Working closely with the onsite HRBP and wider HR team to deliver the people strategy
- Supporting union matters and helping to maintain positive employee relationships
The role would suit someone who has already built a strong grounding in generalist HR and is ready for more exposure to true business partnering. Equally, you may already be operating at People Partner or HRBP level but enjoy being in a genuinely hands-on, operational environment.

What are we looking for?
You’ll ideally have experience within a fast paced, operational environment and be comfortable working with and influencing managers at all levels. You will be comfortable to be on site 5 days per week to build relationships and have a valued presence.
Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, logistics or another similarly fast paced environment would be advantageous, as would exposure to a unionised workforce, although neither is essential. CIPD Level 5 would also be desirable, but again, we’re much more interested in finding the right person with strong, practical HR experience.
More than anything, we’re looking for someone who is approachable, pragmatic, confident and happy to get stuck in, someone who can build credibility with operational managers while still being comfortable challenging when needed.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
