Robert Half is partnering with a well-established international organisation operating within the maritime and shipping industry to recruit an experienced or someone looking for a step up into HR Business Partner for its UK operations function.

The role: HR Business Partner

  • Hybrid: 3 days in office & 2 days wfh
  • Location: Central London
  • Salary: Up to £55 000 + bonus

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to take the next step in their career and develop their business partnering experience within a professional, people-focused organisation.

The successful candidate will work closely with managers, business heads and the wider HR team, providing trusted and commercially focused HR advice across the employee lifecycle. The role offers broad exposure across employee relations, recruitment, workforce planning, organisational change, talent, learning and development and performance management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as a trusted HR adviser to managers and employees across designated areas of the business.
  • Partnering with business leaders to understand organisational priorities and translate these into practical people plans.
  • Providing professional and commercially focused advice on employee relations, performance, absence, conduct, grievances, disciplinary matters, workplace conflict and wellbeing.
  • Managing complex employee relations cases from start to finish, ensuring matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with UK employment legislation.
  • Coaching and supporting managers through investigations, formal meetings and other employee relations processes.
  • Supporting workforce planning, organisational change, restructures and organisational development initiatives.
  • Providing HR insight and recommendations using people data, trends and business information.
  • Supporting recruitment and onboarding activity, ensuring a positive and well-organised experience for new employees.
  • Contributing to annual salary and bonus review processes.
  • Supporting talent management, succession planning and employee development initiatives.
  • Identifying learning and development needs and helping to deliver tailored development solutions.
  • Supporting graduate, internship, apprenticeship and other early-career development programmes where required.
  • Contributing to the development and consistent application of HR policies, processes and best practice.
  • Supporting wider HR projects and initiatives aligned with the organisation's people strategy.
  • Maintaining accurate HR records, systems and documentation while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR professional who is ready to develop their business partnering capability and take greater ownership of people-related matters across the organisation.

You will ideally have:

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or be working towards it.
  • Demonstrable experience handling employee relations matters.
  • Good knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Experience supporting managers with employee relations and performance matters.
  • Experience across recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes.
  • Exposure to learning, development, employee engagement or talent initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The confidence to provide advice, challenge and practical recommendations to managers.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach to HR.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with HR systems and employee data.
  • A high level of integrity and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information.
