HR Consultant | HR Consultancy | 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract (with potential to go permanent) | UK Employment Law Expertise Essential
Location: UK (hybrid working)
Contract: 3-month fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to move into a permanent role
Salary: £48,000 per annum (pro rata) plus commission

We keep growing, and we're looking for an HR Consultant to join our internal team on a 3-month fixed-term contract. For the right person, there's a real chance to move into a permanent position. You'll work closely with 10 experienced HR professionals and report directly to our CEO, in a supportive environment with plenty of learning and knowledge sharing.
The Role
This is a varied, fast-paced, client-facing role supporting businesses across many industries. You'll be a trusted advisor to clients, guiding them through complex people matters, embedding best practice and helping them create great employee experiences. You'll need to get up to speed quickly and make an impact from day one.
What You'll Be Doing
- Advising clients on the full range of HR matters, including employee relations, performance management, grievances, disciplinaries, redundancy, TUPE and absence management
- Giving expert guidance on UK employment law and HR best practice
- Drafting and reviewing HR documents (contracts, handbooks, policies and templates) tailored to each client
- Supporting HR projects such as restructures, engagement initiatives, salary benchmarking, training delivery and culture development
- Coaching managers to build their capability and confidence
- Building trusted client relationships as an extension of their internal team
- Working day to day with our internal team of 10, sharing ideas and solving problems together
- Reporting directly to the CEO, with regular check-ins and feedback

What We're Looking For
- At least 4–5 years' experience in an HR Consultant, HR advisory or agency role
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and the ability to apply it to real-world situations
- Proven experience managing complex, high-risk ER cases, including redundancies, dismissals and long-term absence
- ER case management experience across a range of industries (advantageous)
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess risk and give commercially sound advice
- Excellent attention to detail when handling sensitive case information
- Ability to hit the ground running, work independently and manage several cases and deadlines at once
- Strong mediation and conflict resolution skills
- Experience with SME or multi-site businesses (beneficial)
- A flexible, adaptable approach suited to a growing business
- Happy to travel to London and the South East for team or client meetings
- Available to start at short notice (preferred)
