Small Firm. Big Stage.

Are you looking for a unique opportunity to turbo charge your career development in a busy but flexible role?

We’re a niche human resources consultancy, giving specialist advice and support to high profile organisations, on a project-by-project basis. Our client list reads like a who’s who of the Northern Ireland public and third sectors, for example the Northern Ireland Policing Board, the Education Authority, the Equality Commission, the LRA, the NI Fire & Rescue and NI Ambulance Services, Tourism NI, NI Screen, all 11 local councils, and big names in social housing like Radius and Choice. Senior-level exposure to organisations like this is rare; here it’s part of the job.

The work itself is just as varied. We cover the full range of HR disciplines, from HR strategy and organisational development to recruitment and employee relations, so you’ll quickly build a depth and breadth of experience that would be impossible in a typical HR role.

We’re a small team based in Holywood, whose clients are in Northern Ireland. You won’t get lost in the hierarchy of a big multi-disciplinary accounting and consulting firm and we won’t hire you in Belfast, just to ship you off to clients across Britain and Ireland.

What's involved? Tell me what a typical week might look like.

Monday

Carrying out interviews or writing up a report for a workplace investigation on behalf of a public body (maybe on a disciplinary, grievance, dignity at work or whistleblowing issue).

Tuesday

Delivering face to face training for a local council on a people related subject, for example how to conduct a workplace investigation, how to manage performance, or how to manage change.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Correcting some misconceptions

We don't have sales targets.

Unlike other consultancies, we don't ask our consultants to do sales. We prefer to give them the space to deliver service that adds real value to our clients. Then the repeat business looks after itself.

We're not an advice line for small businesses.

Our people spend most of their time on specialist HR projects for public sector and not-for-profit clients. We do have some small-business clients who rely on us for outsourced HR support from a named advisor that they know and trust. Whilst this only takes up maybe 3 or 4 hours a week for our consultants, making a real and immediate difference to these clients can be incredibly rewarding.

You don't need consulting experience to join us.

Very few of our people come to us from a consulting background, and you'll be fully supported to develop the breadth of HR experience and the consulting skills you'll need. If you're willing to learn, we're happy to build on the experience you already have.

There's no such thing as a typical Headstogether consultant

Whether you're coming back to work after a career break, at an early stage in your career and looking to develop or wanting to work flexibly to fit around caring responsibilities, we'd love to hear from you. We understand that there's more to life than work and if you're committed to giving great service to our clients, whilst developing your HR knowledge and skills, then we're committed to giving you the flexibility to make that happen.

Don't take our word for it

We've put together a Welcome Book that explains who we are, what we do, and what it's like to work here. Please download it from our website. Navigate via the menu to Who We Are, then select All Together More on the grey bar.

But if you want the unvarnished truth, straight from our staff themselves, they've made a video for you. Management weren't involved, and they didn't see it until it was finished. That's the version you can see on our website, alongside the Welcome Book.

Consultant or Advisor?

Depending on your current level of experience, we’d consider you for either an HR Consultant role, or HR Advisor role. HR Advisors are recruited with a clear pathway for progression to Consultant.
