A well-established professional services firm bringing together expertise across accountancy, tax, legal, financial planning, and investment management is seeking an HR Officer to support the day-to-day delivery of HR across the organisation.
This is a varied, hands-on role that sits at the centre of the business, supporting managers and employees across multiple departments while ensuring HR processes are consistent, compliant, and effectively managed.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Director, you will provide practical HR support across the full employee lifecycle. Working within established policies and procedures, you will offer first-line guidance on routine HR matters while escalating more complex or high-risk issues where appropriate.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice to support compliant HR processes.
- Providing first-line advice and guidance to managers and employees on day-to-day HR matters, escalating complex cases when required.
- Monitoring legislative developments and supporting updates to HR policies, templates, and procedures.
- Coordinating recruitment activities, including drafting job descriptions and adverts, managing candidate communications, arranging interviews, and supporting the offer process.
- Managing onboarding and induction administration, ensuring all pre-employment checks are completed and new starters receive a positive onboarding experience.
- Supporting employee relations processes by preparing documentation, coordinating meetings, taking notes where appropriate, and ensuring cases are managed consistently and confidentially.
- Administering absence management through the HR system, ensuring accurate records are maintained and managers receive appropriate support throughout the process.
- Managing annual leave and family-related leave administration, ensuring employee records remain accurate and up to date.
- Maintaining employee records, contracts, salary review documentation, and general HR correspondence.
- Supporting performance management processes, including probation reviews, appraisals, training records, and CPD administration where appropriate.
- Assisting with the administration and development of HR policies, ensuring employees have access to current documentation.
- Supporting employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives, internal communications, and recognition programmes.
- Using Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Forms, SharePoint, and Planner, to support and improve HR administration.
- Undertaking additional duties as required to support the needs of the business.

You'll ideally have:
- Part-qualified or fully qualified CIPD Level 3 (desirable).
- Previous experience within a generalist HR role.
- Confidence handling a broad range of HR queries with professionalism and discretion.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the business.
- A calm, empathetic, and practical approach when dealing with sensitive situations.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and the confidence to take ownership of tasks through to completion.
- Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), with experience of wider Microsoft 365 applications being advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy when maintaining HR records and documentation.
- A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to contribute to a positive workplace culture.
- A good understanding of employment legislation and HR best practice, with the ability to recognise when matters require escalation.
