Head of People / HR Director

About the company

Help build the team behind work that changes lives. Kareera is partnering with an international philanthropic organisation supporting African leaders to deliver lasting improvements for their communities. Its work combines funding, practical expertise and implementation support to turn ambitious plans into measurable results. As the organisation grows, it is looking for a Head of People to shape its global people strategy and ensure the right talent is in place to deliver its mission.

About the role

Reporting to the CFO, you’ll lead the people function, combining strategic leadership with hands-on delivery. You’ll advise senior leaders, develop the People/HR function and build the systems, policies and processes that support an effective international team. Talent acquisition is a central part of the role. Alongside recruiting employees, you’ll build a trusted network of specialist contractors and advisers who can support government partners when expertise is needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
