🚨 HR Director | PE-Backed | Midlands | £110,000–£120,000 + Executive Benefits
I’m partnering exclusively on the search for an exceptional HR Director to join a growing, PE-backed, blue-collar business at a pivotal point in its evolution.
This is not a role for someone looking to simply maintain the status quo.
The People function is at an important point of transition, creating a genuine opportunity to build, transform and professionalise HR from the ground up.
I’m keen to speak with commercially minded HR leaders who can demonstrate experience across:
- Building and developing high-performing HR functions
- Managing, developing and coaching a small HR team, creating capability, accountability and pace
- Operating within industrial, operational and blue-collar environments
- Ideally combining a strong HR background with broader operational experience or a genuine understanding of operationally led businesses
- Working across multi-site, unionised environments
- Delivering culture change, EVP and organisational development
- Coaching and constructively challenging senior leaders
- Developing workforce planning, talent and succession strategies
- Managing complex employee relations and trade union relationships
- Working effectively with executive leadership teams and Private Equity stakeholders
- Bringing energy, pace and commercial thinking to business transformation

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
