HR Generalist

Location: Central London (Farringdon/Chancery Lane)
Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, full-time hybrid working (up to two days working from home)

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a true generalist role for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and thrives in a fast-paced SME. You'll support the day-to-day delivery of HR across the employee lifecycle, with ownership of recruitment, HR operations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a proactive and commercially minded HR professional who is comfortable using technology, data, and AI tools to improve efficiency and employee experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

  • Manage recruitment from vacancy approval to offer
  • Manage ATS activity and candidate experience
  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
  • Manage onboarding and probation processes
  • Improve recruitment effectiveness and time-to-hire

HR Operations

  • Maintain HRIS accuracy and data integrity
  • Produce HR reports, dashboards, and people metrics
  • Manage HR administration and employee records
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and internal procedures
  • Coordinate benefits administration
  • Manage HR compliance activities and audits
  • Support GDPR compliance within HR processes
  • Support performance management conversations
  • Support disciplinary, grievance, capability, and absence processes

AI, Technology & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to automate HR activities
  • Use AI to improve documentation, reporting, and manager self-service
  • Evaluate new HR technology and recommend improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement through AI and automation
  • Lead or support HR improvement projects such as onboarding, HR systems, employee engagement, and process optimization

Essential Skills and Experience

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified (essential)
  • Demonstrable experience in a HR Generalist, HR Advisor, or equivalent role
  • Experience managing recruitment end to end
  • Working knowledge of UK employment law and experience supporting employee relations activities
  • Experience working in an SME environment (MSP or professional services sector)
  • Experience supporting and advising managers
  • Excellent HR systems knowledge
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrable experience using AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar) to improve HR processes, create documentation, analyse data, and increase operational efficiency
  • Experience using AI tools to analyse HR data and identify trends
  • Strong understanding of data protection and confidentiality considerations when using AI
