Africell, the pan-African mobile telecommunications company, is recruiting an HRIS Specialist, to be based at its Head Office in London, UK.
Role Responsibilities
The HRIS Specialist is responsible for the effective administration, maintenance, optimization and continuous improvement of Africell’s Human Resources Information Systems and related HR technology platforms.
The role will support the Group HR function and operating markets by ensuring that HR systems provide accurate, reliable and accessible employee information, enable efficient HR processes, support reporting and analytics, and meet appropriate data protection and governance requirements.
The HRIS Specialist will work closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, managers and external technology providers to ensure HR systems are effectively configured, maintained and utilized across the Group.
The role will also support HR technology projects, system implementations, integrations, upgrades, testing and process improvements, contributing to the development of a more standardized, data-driven and digitally enabled HR function.
Role Outputs
HRIS Administration & System Management
- Administer and maintain Africell’s HR Information Systems and associated HR technology platforms.
- Maintain accurate employee records, organizational structures, job information, reporting lines, employment data and other HR master data.
- Manage system configurations, workflows, user permissions, access rights and approval processes in line with agreed HR policies and governance requirements.
- Monitor system performance and identify issues, errors, data inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure HR systems remain aligned with approved HR processes, organizational structures and business requirements.
- Maintain appropriate system documentation, user guides, process maps and standard operating procedures.
- Coordinate system updates, upgrades, releases and configuration changes, including appropriate testing before deployment.
HR Data Management & Data Integrity
- Maintain high standards of HR data accuracy, completeness, consistency and integrity across HR systems.
- Conduct regular data quality checks, audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Support the maintenance of accurate employee lifecycle information, including joiners, transfers, promotions, changes in reporting lines, compensation changes and leavers.
- Establish and maintain appropriate data validation and governance controls.
- Ensure HR data is managed in accordance with applicable data protection, confidentiality and information security requirements.
- Support the development of standardized HR data definitions and reporting structures across Africell’s operating markets.
HR Systems & Process Improvement
- Review existing HR processes and identify opportunities for automation, standardization and improved system utilization.
- Translate HR business requirements into practical HRIS solutions and system enhancements.
- Work with HR stakeholders to understand business requirements and recommend appropriate system functionality and process improvements.
- Identify manual processes that can be streamlined through HR technology and automation.
- Support the development and implementation of standardized HR processes across the Group where appropriate.
- Continuously evaluate system functionality and recommend enhancements that improve efficiency, employee experience and data quality.

HRIS Implementation & Projects
- Support the implementation of new HR systems, modules, functionality and technology solutions.
- Participate in system configuration, requirements gathering, data migration, testing, user acceptance testing and deployment activities.
- Coordinate HRIS testing and ensure identified issues are documented, tracked and resolved before system changes are implemented.
- Support data migration and system integration activities, ensuring employee data is accurately transferred between systems.
- Work closely with IT, HR stakeholders and external vendors during HR technology projects.
- Support change management, communications and training associated with new HR systems and processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Group’s HR technology environment.
Reporting, Analytics & Dashboards
- Develop and maintain HR reports, dashboards and management information using HRIS data.
- Provide accurate and timely reporting on headcount, employee movements, turnover, vacancies, organizational structures and other HR metrics.
- Support the HR leadership team with workforce data and insights required for decision-making.
- Ensure HR reports are based on accurate, validated and appropriately governed data.
- Develop standard reporting templates and dashboards to improve consistency across Group HR and operating markets.
- Identify trends, data gaps and anomalies and work with relevant stakeholders to address them.
- Support the development of HR analytics capabilities and data-driven decision-making across Africell.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Professional HR, HRIS, systems, data analytics or project management certification is desirable.
- Relevant certification or training in HR technology, HRIS administration, data management, analytics or information systems is considered an advantage.
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of HR Information Systems and HR technology within a corporate or international environment.
- Good understanding of employee lifecycle processes and how HR processes translate into HRIS workflows and system requirements.
- Strong understanding of HR data management, data integrity, reporting and HR analytics.
- Knowledge of HRIS configuration, workflows, user permissions, system testing and system administration.
- Good understanding of HR technology integrations and data flows between HRIS and other business systems.
- Understanding of data protection, confidentiality and information security principles relevant to employee information.
- Knowledge of HR reporting, dashboards and workforce analytics.
- Understanding of HR process automation, digital transformation and continuous improvement.
- Experience supporting HR systems across multiple countries, cultures and business environments is highly desirable.

Experience
The ideal applicant will have at least 4–6 years’ experience in:
- HRIS administration, HR technology, HR systems, HR operations, data management or a related discipline.
- Managing or supporting HR Information Systems within a corporate or international environment.
- Maintaining employee master data and ensuring high levels of HR data accuracy and integrity.
- Configuring, testing and supporting HRIS workflows, processes, reports and system functionality.
- Supporting HR technology implementations, upgrades, system migrations or integration projects.
- Developing HR reports, dashboards and management information.
- Working with HR, IT, Finance, Payroll and other business stakeholders to translate business requirements into system solutions.
- Providing HRIS user support and training to HR teams and managers.
- Working with external HR technology vendors and service providers.
- Experience working across Africa or other international markets is highly preferred.
- Experience in telecommunications, technology, financial services, professional services, or another fast-paced multinational environment is considered an advantage.
