HR Manager (Head Office) | Permanent | West London (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)
Salary
Up to £70,000 + Head Office bonus
Requirements
MUST BE CIPD LEVEL 5 OR 7 QUALIFIED
About the Role
This is a generalist’s HR role at pace, not a role for someone who’s spent years inside rigid, heavily structured corporate HR and wants to keep it that way.
You’ll partner directly with Heads of and Directors across multiple Functions, with real autonomy to take work off your Head of HR’s plate rather than wait to be told what to do.
Can you hold your own with senior stakeholders who are demanding and won’t always make it easy? Are you equally comfortable running a complex ER case as you are shaping a change programme or stepping into recruitment when a senior Head Office hire needs it?
If you want breadth over bureaucracy and the autonomy to make the role your own, this is worth a serious look.
Responsibilities
- Business partnering across Head Office functions — pragmatic, commercial HR advice that leaders actually act on
- Complex employee relations casework (low in volume, high in complexity) with consistency and legal rigour
- Talent, succession and capability planning alongside the wider people strategy
- Supporting organisational design and change management, including communications
- Managing and developing a direct report (TA Specialist) and stepping in on recruitment for senior or high-volume periods
- People insights and HR projects that actually move the needle, not just report on it

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
- Proven HR generalist experience at HR Manager or Senior HR Advisor/Business Partner level
- Strong employee relations expertise and current employment law knowledge
- A track record partnering with senior, demanding stakeholders in a commercial environment
- Evidenced experience supporting change management and change communications
- CIPD Level 5–7 is a strong advantage, as is L&D or training experience — but neither is essential
- Genuine comfort operating in a fast-paced, less-structured environment — this isn’t corporate Head Office HR
Worth Knowing
- PMI, 50% staff discount, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (with buy-more option), flexi benefits portal and an on-site wellness hub
- A two-stage process: competency and scenario-based first stage (can flex to virtual), followed by a 30/60/90-day business plan presentation
- Joining a small, high-trust HR leadership team of three, reporting directly to the Head of HR
