HR Manager

Location: London

Working pattern: Hybrid, minimum 3 days per week in the office

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience


We are working with a well-established and highly recognisable UK retail brand to recruit an experienced HR Manager to join its team.

This is a broad HR Business Partnering role, working closely with senior leaders and teams across areas including Buying, Merchandising, Design, Marketing, Digital and Corporate Functions.

Reporting to the Head of HR, you will provide expert advice and guidance across the full employee lifecycle, helping to drive engagement, performance and organisational effectiveness.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced commercial environment and can balance strategic thinking with hands-on operational delivery.

Key Responsibilities

HR Business Partnering

  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders and managers across the business.
  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused HR advice and coaching.
  • Support leaders in driving high performance, engagement and accountability.
  • Translate business objectives into effective people plans.

Employee Relations

  • Lead and support complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, performance and absence management.
  • Provide consistent, fair and legally compliant advice across people-related matters.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate organisational risk.

Talent & Organisational Development

  • Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.
  • Work with managers to identify capability gaps and development opportunities.
  • Contribute to organisational design, workforce planning and change programmes.

Recruitment

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to attract and retain high-quality talent.
  • Support hiring managers in delivering an excellent candidate experience.
  • Help ensure effective onboarding and integration of new employees.

People Insights & Projects

  • Analyse people data and trends to support business decision-making.
  • Produce and present HR metrics, insights and recommendations.
  • Lead and support HR projects aligned with the wider people strategy.
  • Drive continuous improvement across HR processes, policies and employee experience.

About You

We are looking for an experienced HR professional with strong generalist expertise and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.

You will be confident building relationships with senior stakeholders, providing advice on complex people matters and using your HR expertise to support wider business objectives.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven HR generalist experience within an HR Manager, Senior HR Advisor or HR Business Partner position.
  • Strong employee relations experience and up-to-date employment law knowledge.
  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders in a commercial environment.
  • Excellent coaching, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and utilise people data.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within retail, fashion, lifestyle or another customer-focused sector.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience supporting organisational change and transformation programmes.
  • Familiarity with HR systems and reporting tools.
