About The Role

The Human Resources Manager at Vacgen Ltd is a pivotal leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the company's people strategy. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will oversee all aspects of HR operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with employment legislation. This role offers a unique blend of strategic influence and operational delivery, providing an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional to make a significant impact. You will partner with senior leadership and managers to develop initiatives that foster a high-performance culture, support business growth, and enhance employee engagement. Your responsibilities will include leading recruitment efforts, managing employee relations, developing HR policies, overseeing payroll processes, and supporting talent development initiatives. The role requires a proactive, solution-oriented approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-changing environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be MCIPD qualified with substantial post-qualification experience, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment. A degree or equivalent qualification is essential. You should possess at least 10 years of generalist HR experience at a managerial level within a medium-sized organization, with proven expertise in employee relations, recruitment, compliance, and risk management. Experience operating in a standalone HR leadership role is essential, along with a strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices. Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems, occupational health management, and HR analytics will be advantageous. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR policies and procedures, as well as experience presenting reports and recommendations to senior leadership, are highly desirable qualities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Managing Director and leadership team to develop and implement strategic HR initiatives that support business growth and organizational development.
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment processes, workforce planning, and talent acquisition strategies to ensure the company attracts and retains top talent.
  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions, grievances, absence management, redundancy procedures, and dispute resolution.
  • Manage performance management, talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement initiatives to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Maintain, review, and develop HR policies and procedures in compliance with employment legislation and industry best practices.
  • Oversee HR systems, employee records, and ensure GDPR compliance across all HR activities.
  • Manage payroll processes through an external bureau, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external providers such as recruitment agencies, training providers, and HR software vendors.
  • Support occupational health programs and employee wellbeing initiatives to promote a healthy and productive workforce.
  • Produce HR reports and management information to inform strategic decision-making and monitor HR metrics.
  • Coach and advise managers on all aspects of people management, fostering leadership development and best practices in HR management.
