South Thames Colleges Group (STCG), comprising Carshalton, Kingston, Merton and South Thames Colleges, is one of the top performing college groups in London. Formed in 2017 through the merger of four colleges, the Group delivers Post-16, undergraduate, apprenticeships, training for work, and adult short course programmes to a diverse learner community. Role Description
The Human Resources Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Morden, responsible for leading HR operations and supporting staff across South Thames Colleges Group. Day-to-day duties include:

The role involves advising managers on:
- Performance management
- Absence management
- Disciplinary and grievance matters
The Human Resources Manager will coordinate learning and development initiatives, support workforce planning, and contribute to HR projects that enhance staff engagement and organisational effectiveness. The role also requires:
- Maintaining accurate HR records
- Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and sector regulations
- Working closely with senior leadership to support strategic objectives
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in Human Resources management, including employee relations, recruitment, and performance management.
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and compliance requirements within the education or public sector.
- Proficiency in HR systems and MS Office, with the ability to maintain accurate data and produce clear reports and analytics.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, lead HR projects, and deliver outcomes within agreed timescales.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and to promoting a positive, respectful working and learning environment.
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent professional HR certification is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in a college, education provider, or large multi-site organisation is an advantage.
